Increasing operational efficiency is an important part of Strategy 2017 and means, among other things, reduced consumption of certain types of resources with the help of advanced technologies and recycling.

Occupational health and safety. The Company operates hazardous production facilities and is responsible for the welfare of its employees. The Company is striving to achieve global leadership in occupational health and safety among its peers by introducing advanced OHS practices, efficient risk management system and by motivating and actively involving its employees in OHS programmes.

Minimization of environmental footprint is one of the prerequisites for the success of Strategy 2017. Well thought-through environmental and technological efforts that go beyond the investment process together with NLMK Group’s investment programme minimize NLMK Ural’s impact on the environment.

One of NLMK Group’s strategic priorities is to boost energy efficiency. The overarching goal of this initiative is to reduce the amount of third-party energy resources and to grow captive energy capacities through off-gas recovery.

NLMK Ural’s sees investment into the development of its employees as a prerequisite for the Сompany’s long-term competitiveness, dynamic development, an increased potential of its human capital; and, ultimately, the increased fundamental value of the Сompany as a whole. High-quality professional training ensures high level of competence necessary to respond to professional challenges the employees face at work. It also increases employee loyalty, forms a favourable social and psychological climate at the workplace and directly affects the development of NLMK’s corporate culture.

Improving the welfare of communities where the Company operates is one of NLMK Ural’s key social responsibility goals. The Company works with local communities and the authorities at various levels with an aim to resolve the most pressing social issues and develop the regions where NLMK Ural operates.
